As we enter into the month of November, I want to stir you up by way of pure remembrance. You have been given spiritual authority in Chris Jesus over all the spiritual forces of hell itself. When Jesus conquered sin, hell and the grave over two thousand years ago, he delegated to you, the believer, complete dominion to reign as a conqueror in this life.
In Revelations 1:18, Jesus declared, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forever, amen; and have the keys of hell and the grave.” The New Living Bible declares, “I am the living one. I died, but look- I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.” The Goodspeed Translation declares, “…And have the keys of death and the underworld.” Jesus came and obtained an eternal redemption for mankind. He gave His life to regain our freedom from sin and the satanic underworld. He paid the price and ripped the keys out of death’s grip!
Romans 5:7 declares, “For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” The Goodspeed declares, “…all the more will those who receive God’s overflowing mercy and gift of uprightness live and reign through the one individual Jesus Christ.” The Living Bible declares, “The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to be king over all, but all who will take God’s gift of forgiveness and acquittal are kings of life because of this one man, Jesus Christ.” This portion of Scripture reveals the contrast between Adam’s disobedience and Jesus Christ’s obedience. The first Adam failed in the Garden of Eden. Jesus, called the last Adam, conquered sin by his consecration to the will of God in the Garden of Gasemene and his death on the cross.
In Jesus’ obedience to die for us, he conquered sin, Satan, hell and the grave. He broke Satan’s grip over lost humanity and recreated them in the new birth to live and reign in righteousness! Colossians 2:15 declares, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” The New English Bible declares, “On the cross he discarded the cosmic powers and authorities.” The Phillip’s says, “…he exposed them, shattered, empty and defeated, in the final glorious triumphant act.”
1 John 3:8 says, “For he that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” The Basic American Standard declares, “…to put an end to the works of the devil.” The CP says, “…for this very reason the son of God was born that he might break up the devil’s work.” The Amplified declares, “The reason the son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works of the devil (has done).” Jesus’ triumphant act of obedience put a complete end to the legal right darkness had to reign over mankind.
J.F. Bosworth once said, “Anyone can be a master of the devil overnight.” Once we see this glorious truth, we must act like the Bible is true and use our authority. In Luke 10:19, Jesus declared, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the powers of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” God ahead and use your authority in Jesus Christ to tell opposing forces to stop cold in their tracks!
