Faithfulness

by Chris D'Amico

2 Timothy 1:12 declares, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that He counted me faithful, putting me in the ministry.” Then in Psalm 75:6-7 we read, “For promotion cometh nether from the east, nor the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” Over the last two months we have been discussing the importance of faithfulness in the lives of the believer.

Faithfulness is the proving ground for promotion with God. God is not looking at an individuals gifting or great talent, but their ability to be faithful to him and the responsibilities at hand. After, all any ability we have is given by God anyway! We are just stewards of His grace. James 1:12 declares, “Every good and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variablesness, nether shadow of turning.” God not only expects us to be faithful over the gift He has placed within us, but also over every area of our lives. In this newsletter we will discuss this very important subject of faithfulness.

Getting Delivered from the Greener Grass Theory

The Devil will do everything he can to tell you that the season you are in now is not exciting and there is something bigger you should be doing. If only you could get to the next place. The reality is this, God may have greater responsibilities awaiting you, but the grass needs to be moved over there, too. Why not settle down, be faithful, work hard and give your best each day. Trust God to help you grow and overcome where you are right now. If you cannot master the season you are in right now, what makes you think you are ready for the next season? If you cannot develop peace with God in your now season, surely your tomorrow season will defeat you also.

God desires us to trust Him and cast our care on Him right where we are. He will always help us through. 1 Corinthians 15:58 declares, “Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in God.” Then in Galatians 6:9 we read, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The truth is, when we do not grow weary, but continue to obey God, we are making progress and exhibiting faithfulness in our lives unto God and man.

If you are in a season right now where you are starting to feel restless and discontent and you know God has called you there, Satan may be pushing your buttons. He may be putting lies in your head to persuade you to stop trusting God. He may be attempting to disconnect you from God’s will and those in your life over you in authority, who also are doing their best to follow His will. Determine right now to give God your best in the season you are in. He will strenthen and grace you to continue to grow in faithfulness for all that is ahead in His plan.

Having the Proper Attitude

John Maxwell made an interesting statement on attitude, “Attitude is the speaker of our present: it is the prophet of our future.” Our attitude will always determine the progress we make in our lives for the Lord. It will make or break our lives. Lou Holtz, the former head football coach for Notre Dame said, “Ability is what we are capable of doing, motivation determines what you do and attitude determines how well you do it.” A faithful servant will maintain the proer attitude with his commitments in life. He will show proper respect for God, His Word, His work and all those he has placed in authority over them.

Webster’s defines attitude as:  ones disposition; bodily posture; mental posture; and way of thinking. Philippians 2:5 declares, “Let this attitude be in you which was also in Christ.” The Living Bible says, “Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Christ Jesus.” Jesus was the epitome of faithfulness to the Father. His attitude of joy for the victory on the other side of the cross enabled Him to endure the humiliation and pain of the cross. Maintaining a good attitude is key to success and fulfillment in life. Determine to be a green light person and God will use you to be a great blessing to those around you!

Thank you so very much for your gracious support and love.
