As we enter the month of December, I want to remind you that God Almighty is with you. Matthew 1:23 declares, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God is with us.” He is always for you, now and forever. He is not only for you, He lives within you! God is with us! Why did Jesus come to be with us?
To Save His People from Sin
Jesus came for one great purpose, to save us from our sins. Matthew 1:21 declares, “And she shall bring forth a son, and they shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people form their sins.” The Amplified Bible declares, “…for he will save His people from their sins (that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God).” Jesus came to save us- from sin, from failing, and missing the true meaning of life, which is living and knowing God. Luke 19:10 declares, “For the son of man came to seek and save that which was lost.”
To Reveal the Father to Mankind
John 14:8-9 declares, “Philip saith unto him, ‘Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.’ Jesus said unto him, ‘Have I been so long with you, and yet thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, shew us the Father. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.'” Jesus completely represented the Father to the world because the Father dwelt within him. All the fullness of deity dwelt in him in bodily form!
To Give Mankind a New Heart
Ezekiel 36:26-27 declares the end result of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. “A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 declares, “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and ye are not your own?” Emmanuel would now dwell within us by the power of the Holy Ghost and the Word.
To Restore Mankind to Right Standing with God
In 1 Corinthians 5:21 declares, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” The Way Translation declares “Jesus new not sin; yet God made him to be the world’s sin for our sakes, that we, whose sin he assumed, might become, by our union with Him, the very righteousness of God.”Righteousness simply means right standing with God. Jesus restored mankind to right standing with God.
To Give Us Supernatural Authority
In Luke 10:19 Jesus declared, “Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the works of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” The New English Bible declares, “And now you see I have given you power…”. The Norlie Translation declares, “Now listen! I have given you authority…”. Jesus came to delegate supernatural dominion and spiritual authority in His name to the Church!
To Place Divine Love in Our Hearts
Romans 5:5 (Knox’s Trans.) declares, “Nor does this hope delude us: the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom we have received.” NEB declares “…Because God’s love has flooded our inmost hearts through the Holy Spirit he has given us.”
May you have a blessed Christmas!
