As we enter the month of February, we must focus on the purposes of God and following His plans for this new year and new decade. Without question, God has specific assignments and paths for all of us to walk in. Psalm 37:23 declares, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his ways.” The American Standard Version declares, “It is the Lord who directs a man’s steps, he holds him firm and watches over his paths.” God desires greatly to order and direct our steps into His plans.
Being Led By The Holy Spirit
Romans 8:14 declares, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are they sons of God.” The Richerts Translation tells us, “We who are guided by God’s Spirit are his offspring.” According to Scripture, all of us as God’s sons and daughters ought to hear and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in our lives. The Holy Spirit lives inside our hearts, he leads us in and through our spirits. His leading will not come out of the carnal mind, nor the comforts of the flesh, but in our spirits. The answer to one thousand questions can be found in being led by God’s Spirit.
Stop With All Your Planning And Seek God For His
James 4:13-15 declares, “Go to now, ye that say, today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, to get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this and that.” To accurately follow God’s plans for our lives, we must be consecrated to only do what he is telling us to do, not just our own ideas! It’s so easy to make our plans and set our direction in motion, without the influence and guidance of God’s Spirit. It’s not our plans that God is blessing, but His!
Seek Him With All Your Heart
Jeremiah 29:11-14a declares, “For I know the thoughts (plans) I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then you shall call upon me, and you shall go and pray unto me, and I will harkin unto you. And you shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you.” The plan of God is for us to find by seeking his face in prayer. If we want direction from God, it’s our responsibility to call upon him and hear what he is saying to us. God said when we sincerely do this, we will find him, his thoughts and direction!
Coming Out Of The Place Of Wondering Into Knowing
James 1:5 declares, “If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him.” The Living Bible declares, “…he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom, to all who ask of him.” The Streets Translation declares, “And if you don’t know what to do about your problems, ask our Father, who gives with no hassles, no strings.” When you are not sure of the next step to take or how to handle a situation, God promises real answers to life’s issues! God is not withholding direction from you, but for you! All of our questions are answered by the Lord. (See John 16:13, Jeremiah 33:3).
Stay Filled With The Spirit
Luke 4:1 declares, “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” Ephesians 5:18 says, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” The Living Bible tells us, “Be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him.” The more we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the easier it is to follow His leading. Press in, get filled, stay filled, and listen and you will hit the mark with God!
